Bruno Fernandes has led the way in terms of goals for Manchester United this season with 13 to his name in all competitions at this stage. After scoring a brace in last week’s win over rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford, the Portuguese star will hope to add to his tally here and as the penalty-taker for the Red Devils, he will always carry a goal threat from that method too.
Our pick: Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United
Although Jack Grealish isn’t exactly known for his prolific goalscoring, the midfielder has been in sumptuous form this season, making his England debut due to his excellent performances for this over-performing Aston Villa outfit. Five goals in 12 is hardly an embarrassing return either and we can see his silky skills troubling the Palace defence in this match.
Our pick: Jack Grealish of Aston Villa
Che Adams is shouldering the goalscoring burden for Southampton in the absence of Danny Ings and given that we expect Ralph Hassenhuttl’s high-flying Saints to overcome relegation-threated Fulham here, we’re looking towards the ex-Birmingham City man to open the scoring with his fifth of the season at Craven Cottage.
Our pick: Che Adams of Southampton
Chelsea are firm favourites against the Gunners, who are very much struggling for form. The same can be said of striker Timo Werner, and we fancy Tammy Abraham to come good for Frank Lampard here.
Our pick: Tammy Abraham of Chelsea
All four of Raheem Sterling’s Premier League goals so far this season have been the opening goal of the game and he has scored in the opening 15 minutes of matches 25 times already in his career. The Manchester City man will hope to break the deadlock against a Newcastle outfit that have lost on their last 11 league trips to the Etihad Stadium.
Our pick: Raheem Sterling of Manchester City
No player in the Premier League has opened the scoring more times than Dominic Calvert-Lewin with seven so far this season, the same amount as Liverpool’s Mo Salah. The Everton striker is the joint-top scorer in the Premier League and given that he started his career with the Blades, he’ll be desperate to mark his return to Bramall Lane with a goal on Saturday night.
Our pick: Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton
Although Patrick Bamford has been the main goal threat for Leeds so far this season, Mateusz Klich has managed to chip in with three goals so far, including the opener in the recent home loss to West Ham United. The Polish midfielder is capable from set-pieces and from range and although Burnley are usually capable of defending crosses into the box, Klich will offer Leeds a different dimension in this clash.
Our pick: Mateusz Klich of Leeds
West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen was the main threat for his side during an unfortunate 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night. The ex-Hull City man has four goals to his name in the Premier League this season and his tendency to drift inside from a wide starting position could cause problems against Brighton’s back three.
Our pick: Jarrod Bowen of West Ham
Although it may be easy to decide on the team to score first in this game, deciding on the player is a little more difficult. However, Mohamed Salah is the joint-leader in the Premier League scoring charts and the joint-leader in opening goals this season with 7 and after scoring against Crystal Palace last week despite not starting, we expect him to put the Baggies backline to the sword at Anfield.
Our pick: Mohamed Salah of Liverpool
Daniel Podence caused Tottenham problems last year in the Champions League for Olympiakos, scoring in the 2-2 draw between the two sides in the group stages. In his first full season with Wolves, the Portuguese winger has found the net three times so far, including one in the victory over Chelsea in the team’s last home fixture.
Our pick: Daniel Podence of Wolves
